Teams: 21 teams

 

2021 Apertura* Regular season: 25 February - 16 July. Play-off dates yet to be announced.

Season format:

The 21 teams will play each other once.

In total there will be 20 matchdays.

After that a Play-off will take place.

Copa Libertadores Qualification: 

The Apertura champion will play the "Superfinal" at the end of the year against the champion of the Clausura season which will determine the club who qualify to the continental tournament. (Boca Junior compete in the 2022 edition)

Current champions: San Lorenzo (2021 Apertura)

Current champions: Boca Juniors (2021 Clausura)

2021 Clausura Top scorers: Carolina Birizamberri (12 goals)

Most championships: Boca Juniors (25 titles)

*The Apertura and Clausura tournaments is a split season format common for many Latin American football leagues in which the season is divided in two sections per season (Apertura + Clausura) each with its own champion.
