Play-offs format:

The two best teams after the regular season will face the ranked 5-10 teams from the Toppserien in a qualifying round of seven matchdays where the home team is decided by draw. Teams ending up as 7th and 8th in the play-offs will be relegated to the 1. divisjon. Team No. 6 plays a qualifier game, at home and away, against the winner of the playoffs in 1.divisjon (see below) for a place in the Toppserien next season.

The 3-10 ranked teams from the regular season in 1.divisjon will play against each other in a Relegation round of seven matchdays where the home side is decided by draw. The winner of the play-offs will play against No. 6 from the Toppserien play-offs (see above) for a spot in next season's Toppserien. Teams ending up as 7th and 8th will be relegated to the 2. divisjon.
